Are the constellations of the solar system due to a visit from a foreign star? The latest findings suggest that billions of years ago, a stellar guest flew so close to our home system that it changed the trajectories of thousands upon thousands of small celestial bodies! And possibly some of them were pulled out of their trans-Neptunian orbits and hurled into the interior of the solar system – where they were ultimately captured by the large gas giants as moons! But that’s not all: another exciting theory is now putting forward the idea that our home system was formed in the first place by a near-collision with another star!
