Future Space
It is the greatest success story in space travel: although the two Voyager probes have been traveling in space since 1977, they continue their revolutionary research mission to this day! As is well known, the identical twin probes have now even penetrated into interstellar space, where they are giving us unprecedented insights into unknown cosmic worlds. And yet this is only one side of the astronomical coin: the truth is that the spacecraft are now showing serious signs of weakness! And recently it even looked as if we would have to say goodbye to Voyager 1 for good: it was at risk of falling silent forever due to a serious technical complication! Fortunately, NASA managed to breathe new life into the ancient probe by performing an extremely risky maneuver. Nevertheless, it currently appears that we have only gained a little more time – and that we should slowly start getting used to the idea that even the longest research mission in history will eventually come to an end.
