The American Meteor Society received several reports of a fireball in the skies over several cities US states on Dec. 22, 2024. The fireball appears to be the re-entering Chinese GaoJing 1-02 satellite, according to a Bluesky post from Jonathan McDowell, an astrophysicist at the Harvard and Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
